After the narrowest one run win at Newton Poppleford, May continued with a ten wicket walloping at Woodbury, but June saw solid progress for Lympstone’s cricketers, with two home wins. This season ‘home’ is up on Withycombe Raleigh Common, next to Exmouth Archery Club – the third borrowed home ground in three seasons. It’s a lovely spot, but with no facilities to offer visitors and once more it is outside Lympstone. Oh, for a flat field in the parish!
June showed just how good a bowling side Lympstone are becoming, with Ben Ingham leading a clutch of improving but still sometimes wayward young quickies, backed up by accurate and economical slower stuff from more mature members of the side. Visiting Erratics lived up to their name and had no answer to the villagers’ 130, their last eight batsmen (two of which were women) managing only 13 runs. between them. Two weeks later Argyle Road batted first and were restricted to 74-9 by more good Lympstone bowling. Thanks once again to the batting of Jonno Lee and Jamie Cooke, Lympstone were cruising home at 71-3 with six overs left, but contrived to make a game of it by losing four more wickets in the search for another four runs! The next home match is on July 16th against Branscombe, starting at 6pm. Why not come along and support your village team? Go up Wotton Lane and Hulham Road, take a right onto the B3180, and it’s on the left before you get to Ting Tong.

Ben Ingham receives the 2008 'JB Player of the Year' award. Ben was chosen by the committee at the AGM last October for his commitment to the club, for his excellent performances as batsman and fielder and for performances that made the difference between victory and defeat.
The very impressive JB cup was donated to us by John Brewer, a founder member of the Club who is temporarily working in the Middle East and wishes to remain involved with the Club.
